Terms, Privacy and Refunds

Last updated 21 September 2026

Terms of service

These terms cover Peek, a macOS application published by Daniel Stoner ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Peek you agree to them.

What you are buying

Peek costs US$19 once. It is not a subscription and does not renew. Your local sales tax or VAT is added on top and is shown before you pay, so the total may be more than $19.

Payment gives you a personal licence to use Peek on the Macs you own, for as long as you like. Updates to Peek are included at no extra cost. There is no account to create and nothing to renew or cancel.

Your licence key

After payment we email you a licence key tied to the email address you bought with. It is yours; please do not publish or share it. We can tell which purchase a key came from, and we may disable a key that is being distributed publicly.

Lost your key? Email us and we will resend it — there is nothing for you to recover or reset yourself.

The free trial

Peek runs for three days without a licence, with every feature enabled and no card required. After that it stops translating until a licence key is entered.

What Peek does not promise

Peek uses Apple's on-device text recognition and translation. The quality of a translation is Apple's, not ours, and machine translation is sometimes wrong. Do not rely on Peek for anything where an inaccurate translation would cause harm — medical, legal, financial or safety-critical text should be checked by a person who reads the language.

Peek is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from its use, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for it.

Requirements

macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. Peek needs macOS Screen Recording permission to read what is on screen, and downloads a language pack from Apple (around 100 MB per language) the first time you use one.

Ending your licence

You may stop using Peek at any time. We may end your licence if it is used to break the law or if a key is distributed publicly — in which case, if you bought within the last 14 days, you may still request a refund.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, where we are based. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law of your own country.

Privacy notice

The app collects nothing. There is no account, no server of ours, and no telemetry. Everything Peek reads on your screen is recognised and translated on your own Mac, by Apple's frameworks, and never leaves it. This is the point of the product, not a setting.

The website is a different matter, and we would rather say so than let you find out. To download Peek you give us your name and email address, and we use them to send you the download and a few messages about the app. What that means exactly is in what we hold below.

What the app sends

Peek makes one kind of network request, and only this one: it fetches a small public file from peek-app.co to see whether a newer version exists. That request sends nothing about you — no identifier, no licence key, no usage, not even which version you are running. It is indistinguishable from any other download of a public file.

You can turn it off in Peek's menu ("Check automatically"). With it off, Peek makes no network requests at all.

What stays on your Mac

What we hold

If you download Peek, we keep the name and email address you typed into the download form. We use them to send you the download link, and then a short series of emails about getting started with Peek and about buying a licence when the trial ends. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and your mail app may also show its own unsubscribe button. Either one takes a single click — there is nothing to confirm, and you do not have to ask us — and it stops all of them. The list is held by Resend, our email provider.

If you buy Peek, our payments provider Paddle records the purchase and your email address; we use that address to send your licence key and to answer support email.

We do not sell or share either list, and we do not use them for anything but Peek. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.

Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every sale and is the data controller for payment information — we never see or store your card details. See Paddle's privacy policy.

Email we send is delivered by Resend, and this site is hosted by Vercel with DNS by Cloudflare. Each necessarily processes the request that reaches it.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email support@peek-app.co. You can also unsubscribe from our emails about Peek using the link at the bottom of any of them, which needs no request to us at all. That does not affect your licence key or our replies to you — those are not marketing, carry no unsubscribe link, and are sent because you asked for them. Deleting your purchase record means we can no longer reissue your licence key, so keep the email.

Refund policy

14 days, no questions asked. If Peek is not for you, email support@peek-app.co within 14 days of buying and we will refund you in full. You do not have to explain why.

Refunds are issued by Paddle, our merchant of record, back to the payment method you used. They usually appear within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.

A refund ends your licence. Please stop using Peek and delete your copy.

We would rather fix a problem than take your money for something that is not working — so if something is broken or Peek cannot read the text you need, tell us first. There is a three-day free trial precisely so you can find that out before paying.

After 14 days we will still consider a refund if Peek has stopped working through our fault and we cannot put it right. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
